WEDDING ON CATALINA

Last weekend, my old coworker and her fiance got married at the Catalina Country Club on Catalina Island (Avalon).  It was my first time on a boat and my first time to Catalina.  The weather, the wedding, and the weekend was absolutely perfect.

Here are a few pictures from my weekend on Catalina.

Shrimp and Chips from El Galleon!

I got my dress from Forever 21 the day before!  Talk about last minute!

MAKEUP OF THE DAY

Here's the aftermath of doing my makeup this morning.

I went for the REVLON Colorstay Whipped Foundation as my base.....that is definitely my go-to everyday makeup foundation.

For concealer, I mixed both the Loreal Tru Match Concealer and the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer for under my eyes. I used my MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light Plus to set my concealer and the foundation.

To prime my eyelids, I used the Too Faced Shadow Insurance...a staple that should be in everyone's makeup collection.  I went for a neutral eye, using the Urban Decay NAKED 2 Palette and the NAKED Basics Palette.  You can never go wrong with those neutral shadows.  I went for a cat eye, using my e.l.f. Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner.  The eyeliner is only $3, and it is a hidden gem.

For mascara, I went with Maybelline Volum' Express The Colossal....and curled my lashes of course.  Curling your lashes makes such a huge difference -- it really opens up your eyes!

For my brows, I tried out my new N.Y.X. Eyebrow Pencil and Brush -- I normally stick to a powder for my eyebrows, and after using the pencil, I was a bit disappointed.  I think I just got too dark of a shade, so I'm not ruling out eyebrow pencils all together.

For blush, I mixed my MAC Mineralize Blush in Gentle with my e.l.f. Baked Blush in (I forgot the name!) a light pink/coral shade.  I applied the blush with my new MAC Duo Fiber Brush....and I love the soft effect!  I used my Pixi highlighter to add some brightness to my face as well....and I set my makeup with my MAC Fix+.

I would highly recommend MAC Fix+ to set your makeup, and even for underneath your makeup.  It is useful, and the large bottle is about $22.

And finally for my lips: I used my new Rimmel London Lipstick in Pink Chic, and topped it with a NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Beige (my favorite).

I hope everyone's having a great day!

INSTAGRAM

I am addicted to taking pictures on my iPhone..probably because I don't have a fancy DSLR Camera on my own.  Yep -- I'm the one that's crouched on the ground trying to get a weird angle of the flowers on the sidewalk, or the one that's taking super close-up pictures of my food.  That one.

Anyways, my Instagram name is @mynameispatch

BIRTHDAY & TARGET HAUL

I turned 24 yesterday....aka I'm old now!  I also made a quick trip to Target and picked up a couple of makeup items.

I picked up a Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in Rossetto 103, which is a rose pink, but the finish is matte.

I was all about Rimmel London yesterday, since I also picked up their  Moisture Renew Lipstick in Nude Delight 642, and the ScandalEyes Eye Shadow Stick in Blackmail.  I chose the Nude Delight lipstick after seeing Nicole Guerriero use it in a YouTube video recently...and it is divine! It is a great nude that doesn't make your lips look dead!

The last item I bought was the Wet n' Wild Walking on Eggshells Eyeshadow Palette.  I have heard so much about that palette and it was FINALLY in stock at my Target.  I used it this morning and the shadows are extremely pigmented, but quite shimmery.  Great for such a cheap product (About $3 at Target).

Then from my birthday, I got my VERY FIRST MAC MAKEUP BRUSH!!! I know, I know -- it took me about 10 years to finally get a MAC brush...and it was a gift at that!  I got the MAC 187 Duo Fibre Face Brush, the MAC Eyeshadow in Swiss Chocolate, an EOS Balm in Summer Fruit, as well as the Vera Wang Princess Roll-on Perfume.  Lastly, I got a Bath & Body Works candle in the scent First Bloom......it is so floral and gives off such a great scent that can transform a room.  I also got the hand cream in the scent First Bloom.

Swiss Chocolate is the perfect soft brown matte eyeshadow, and is great for the crease/outer corner to add some definition to your eyes.

My sisters know what I love...makeup, and floral scents!

MAY BIRCHBOX VS. GLAMBAG

Like almost any makeup-obsessed girl, I have two monthly beauty box/bag subscriptions...the IPSY Glam Bag and the Birchbox.  Both subscriptions cost about $10 per month, which is a steal when you hit the jackpot with great products.  A few days ago, both of the May packages arrived in the mail.  It was like Christmas!

The May Glam Bag came with a tribal zig-zag aqua/orange bag -- nice and light and perfect for your purse.

The Glam Bag also came with a full-sized darker pink/red MIRABELLA lipstick, a honey concealer, a bottle of NUME Finishing Serum, and a HUGE Pacifica Island Vanilla Roll-On perfume.  I have seen a lot of review of NUME hair styling tools, so I'm excited to try the finishing serum!  Also, I'm really satisfied with the size of the perfume sample...that would cost about $20 at Sephora.

The last product in the Glam Bag was a full-size nail polish from ZOYA.  The color I received was a light beige/champagne color.  I tried this nail polish yesterday, and was sadly disappointed.  I was glad that the color was more opaque than transparent, but the nail polish formula is not up to par.  The finish left streaks!  I painted another nail with an Essie polish, and another with a NYX polish, and both were smooth and shiny.  This ZOYA nail polish was very disappointing.

Next up was the BIRCHBOX!  In my May Birchbox, I received a bottle of Kerastase Shampoo for color-treated hair, which applies to me, so I'm excited about that product.  The box also came with a cute teal Pilot pen,  a waterproof CARGO blush (last pic), a VERY small sample of Coola sunscreen, and an even smaller sample bottle of Folle de Joie eau de parfum.

Overall, I was very disappointed in the Birchbox products.  The samples were extremely small compared to the Glam Bag.  Although - I do prefer the scent of the perfume in the Birchbox over the large perfume from the Glam Bag, the size really does make a difference.  The Glam Bag had the perfect mix of makeup and hair products.

If I had to choose one....I'd choose the IPSY Glam Bag!!

Do you subscribe to any monthly beauty boxes?

MINI HAUL

I made a quick trip to the beauty aisle tonight..and I picked up a couple of goodies.

The first thing I bought was the Maybelline New York Color Whisper in the shade A Plum Prospect. I already have a few of the Color Whispers (my favorite is Cherry on Top) and I wanted to try a shade that was a bit more pigmented, as opposed to just a very light shimmer/almost transparent like a couple of the other shades are (Coral Ambition).

I absolutely love the pink/purple/rose shade of A Plum Prospect. It is the perfect color to bring in your purse and reapply all day. It gives off a nice stain on your lips as well!

The second product I picked up was the REVLON COLORSTAY WHIPPED Creme Makeup. I have seen this next product in a lot of my favorite YouTube guru's monthly favorites videos lately, so I have been intrigued. It is so creamy and VERY blend-able....as all foundations should be!

The last thing I bought was the Silver Linings Playbook DVD! I saw this movie in the theaters, and I've been waiting for it to come on to DVD because I liked it south. Bradley Cooper, and Jennifer Lawrence especially, are such great actors in this movie. It is unreal! The perfect romantic comedy drama collaboration!
